Lucky 7 ska and reggae club is getting more popular, but it was felt that an iconic image of a reggae star be used to illustrate the nature of the club night. The red 'in-house' background from the previous poster/flyer was retained, as was the use of a 'shadow' type image.
The clean, sharp, no thrills design was deliberately initiated in contrast to the more common reggae type flyers that depict either a piece of weathered wood with Jamaican colours included somewhere in the design, or a black and white 'two-tone' record label influenced flyer. Whilst both of these options are valid, Lucky 7 is trying to make a whole area of the reggae music genre (rocksteady, early reggae) open up to new ears...and is succeeding!
This eye catching poster will bring to light the fact that reggae is not all 'from the country', but can also be sharp, clean, vibrant and sophisticated.
